CHICAGO, IL- The second city which is bustling with Latino culture is looking forward to the 4th annual Unísono Festival set for August 16th in Pilsen. Unísono festival has promised to set an all new level of quality and diversity for their beloved community. Unísono welcomes this year's headliner Danay Suárez direct from Cuba for her debut Chicago performance. Also performing, Hector Guerra, Brothers Start Race, Dos Santos Anti-Beat Orchestra, Four Star Brass Band, Kelroy, Killer Moon and many more. This year the Unísono Festival has added two very unique components to the already amazing all day outdoor line-up.
First, Unísono Festival has partnered with LiMe (Little Mexico Film Festival) to showcase the finest selections of original short films from area filmmakers as well as a student film competition ("Rally Behind the Theme"), which will be voted on by community and industry leaders, including representatives from the Gene Siskel Film Center and the Chicago International Latino Film Festival.
Secondly, soaringbird studios in conjunction with Victims of Art Tattoo Gallery has come aboard to debut the Anywhere! Gallery. This unique outdoor art installation will expose people to the fine arts in places where a gallery is normally not found.In keeping with festival tradition, Unísono Festival explores a social justice theme and in 2014 they have chosen Health and Wellness. Free Yoga ,martial arts and dance classes, demonstrations, educational workshops and food will come together to bring about the importance of the six components of HEALTH: physical, spiritual, emotional, social, environmental, and mental along with the seven dimensions of WELLNESS: social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical.
"The 4th celebration is our chance to honor our artists, filmmakers, business owners and neighborhood as a whole who have helped us to create such an amazing cultural dynamic," said Unísono Host Committee member and principal Richard Morales. "We are inspired every day by what Pilsen can accomplish and we look forward to doing our part to take this wonderful community into a prosperous future."
