Norteno Legend Performs at Pechanga
“THE KING OF THE ACCORDIAN” NORTEÑO MUSIC LEGEND RAMÓN AYALA PERFORMS AT PECHANGA IN HONOR OF MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
TEMECULA, Calif. -- (May 19, 2014) – A Grammy Award winning Mexican musician and composer with more than 105 albums, Ramón Ayala and his band plan to get the audience dancing on Sunday, September 14 at 7:00p.m. at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. Ayala began his prolific musical career in the 1960s during a time when conjunto (known as Norteño outside of the Texas-Mexico region) had undergone a big change, according to SmithsonianEducation.org. That change included the slowed polka style delivered in a staccato, up and down musical quality. Ramón Ayala and Cornelio Reyna had formed the band Los Relámpagos and achieved notable success. The pair split up in the 1970s and Ayala set out on his own and with various singers, is said to have created the style that is the standard for Norteño.
