ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Based on the 1987 true story, “McFarland, USA” follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California’s farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner), a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. Coach White and the McFarland students have a lot to learn about each other but when White starts to realize the boys’ exceptional running ability, things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts becomes apparent—the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that his family finally found a place to call home and both he and his team achieve their own kind of American dream.
Disney’s “McFarland, USA” stars Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Morgan Saylor, Martha Higareda, Michael Aguero, Sergio Avelar, Hector Duran, Rafael Martinez, Johnny Ortiz, Carlos Pratts, Ramiro Rodriguez, Danny Mora, Valente Rodriguez, Vanessa Martinez, Chris Ellis and Diana Maria Riva, and is directed by Niki Caro with screenplay by Christopher Cleveland & Bettina Gilois and Grant Thompson, and story by Cleveland & Gilois. “[Loco De Amor is] a euphoric, melodic romp across the hemisphere… A joyful, fun musician’s record from a really good guitarist” – Jon Pareles, New York Times
“Juanes makes acoustic-driven pop-rock that’s immediately accessible even if you don’t know Spanish at all. [“La Luz”], an instantly memorable tune from “Loco de Amor,” his first album in four years, is measurably sharper than most pop right now.” – New York Post
“FOUR STARS... an alternative Latin rocker with a big hooky chorus and a piano vamp worthy of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.. It's a stormer… the album's first single, "La Luz," melds 21st century EDM to Colombian cumbia and Latin alt-rock in a driving, infectious dancefloor groover… urgent, affirmative, nearly transcendent rock & roll …Loco de Amor offers longtime fans plenty of Juanes' signature sound to satisfy, That said, its provocative blur of genres, styles, and traditions delivers some bracing new sounds that should attract a wider range of listeners.” – All Music
“Oh My God, are you guys ready to dance tonight... This guy is gigantic-I am SO psyched. This is a great TONIGHT SHOW booking. I am so happy, as we’ve been trying to get this guy – JUANES is here. He’s Gigantic… He’s got almost Ten Million people following him on twitter – He’s like Super Giant .. And this song tonight ‘La Luz’ it is unbelievable, its fun, its dancey – just crank up the bass… ….He’s going to go for it tonight and it will be really fun” – JIMMY FALLON
“A lot to like about Juanes album 'Loco de Amor' - U2 producer Steve Lillywhite takes Colombian rocker to some rewarding places on follow-up to Grammy-winning 'Unplugged' album. The title track is a stylishly successful mixed marriage of classic conga and fuzzy synthesizers, its irresistible bounce swinging seamlessly into the handclap-driven rocker ‘La Luz’ and the twangy mandolin-and-synth mashup ‘La Verdad’…’Loco de Amor’ is a strong bridge to Juanes’ sound of the future.” – Sun-Sentinel
